Overview
Graphite electrode rings are precision-machined components used to conduct current in electrical discharge machining (EDM), semiconductor, and high-temperature processes. Graphite combines excellent electrical conductivity, thermal shock resistance, and machinability, making it the standard material for electrodes that must carry high current without deforming or eroding.
ORRO Manufacturing produces graphite electrode rings in a range of grades — from high-strength grades for EDM electrodes to high-purity, low-ash grades for semiconductor and vacuum applications. We machine the inner and outer profiles, sealing faces, and mounting features to tight tolerances so the ring seats accurately and conducts reliably.

Key Advantages
- Excellent Electrical Conductivity: Low resistivity carries high current with minimal heating.
- Thermal Shock Resistance: Withstands rapid heating and cooling without cracking.
- High-Purity Grades Available: Low-ash grades prevent contamination in semiconductor and vacuum processes.
- Machinable to Fine Detail: Complex ring profiles and sealing faces can be cut precisely.
- Low Thermal Expansion: Maintains concentricity and fit through thermal cycles.
- Chemically Inert: Resistant to most molten metals, salts, and reactive gases.
Typical Applications
EDM Electrodes

Application Case
Plasma chamber electrode ring, high-purity graphite — A semiconductor equipment maker required low-ash graphite rings with a ±0.02 mm sealing-face tolerance and concentricity within 0.03 mm. ORRO machined the rings from high-purity, low-ash graphite, met the purity requirement, and delivered 600 rings in 20 days with dimensional and ash-content verification.
