Overview
PTFE gasket rings are chemically inert sealing elements used to seal flanges, fittings, and threaded connections in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food-processing equipment. PTFE’s near-universal chemical resistance, wide temperature range, and low friction make gasket rings that seal aggressive media without contamination or sticking.
ORRO Manufacturing machines PTFE gasket rings from virgin and filled PTFE to precise thickness, bore, and outside-diameter tolerances. We offer virgin PTFE for food, pharmaceutical, and ultra-pure service, and glass-, carbon-, or bronze-filled grades where higher creep resistance and compressive strength are required.
Material Properties
| Property | Virgin PTFE | Glass-Filled PTFE (25%) |
|---|---|---|
| Density (g/cm³) | 2.15 - 2.20 | 2.30 - 2.40 |
| Tensile Strength (MPa) | 20 - 30 | 22 - 28 |
| Compressive Strength (MPa) | 12 - 15 | 18 - 22 |
| Hardness (Shore D) | 50 - 60 | 60 - 70 |
| Continuous Service Temperature (°C) | 260 | 260 |
| Coefficient of Friction | 0.04 - 0.10 | 0.08 - 0.15 |
| Water Absorption (%) | < 0.01 | < 0.02 |
Key Advantages
- Universal Chemical Resistance: Unaffected by virtually all industrial chemicals, acids, and solvents.
- Wide Temperature Range: Service from -200°C to +260°C for continuous operation.
- Non-Stick Surface: Prevents media buildup and allows easy cleaning and disassembly.
- FDA-Compliant Grades: Virgin PTFE meets food and pharmaceutical contact requirements.
- Low Friction: Reduces the torque needed to compress and seat the gasket.
- Filled Grades for Creep Resistance: Glass- and carbon-filled grades resist cold flow under load.
Typical Applications
Chemical Processing
Flange and fitting gaskets that seal aggressive acids, bases, and solvents in reactors and piping.
Pharmaceutical and Food Processing
Hygienic gaskets for sterile and clean-in-place systems requiring FDA-compliant materials.
Water Treatment and Semiconductor
Ultra-pure gaskets for chemical dosing, high-purity water, and wet-process equipment.

| Key Processes | CNC turning, facing, boring, skiving |
Application Case
Chemical reactor flange gasket, PTFE — A chemical plant needed flange gaskets that would seal 98% sulfuric acid at 180°C without degradation. ORRO machined virgin PTFE gasket rings to a ±0.05 mm thickness with a controlled surface finish, supplying 5,000 pieces in 12 days. The gaskets eliminated recurring leak failures experienced with elastomer gaskets.
